El Bachir Diop is a researcher at the Center of Urban Systems (CUS) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). He holds a master’s in traffic engineering and a Ph.D. in transportation systems engineering from Dalian University of Technology, China. His research interests include Transportation Planning, Travel Behavior, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and public participation. His current research includes investigating mobility patterns in African cities using crowdsourced GPS data.
As part of the CUS training program, El Bachir oversees two courses in the Executive Master in Smart Cities Strategies in Africa: Crowdsourcing and Citizen Participation and Integrating Intelligent Transport Systems. He has also taught two modules in the MOOC entitled Urban Data Management: Key to the Development of Smarter African Cities.
